Most of the ride today was on bike trails which made it fun since Martina and I could talk easier. It was also great because we were not on the hot roads and the trails provided a lot of shade for the 95 temps we were riding in.
In 2003, my son bicycled across the USA and then discovered weeks later that he had
cancer. (He emerged from treatments healthy in 2004.) He inspired me to start biking, and in 2005 I raised over $15,000 for cancer research by making my own trans-America bike trip (achives under March and April 2005). I now work at a bike store but continue to go on long-distance bike trips, both in the US and internationally.
