The stunning scenery made the ride to Clifden seem to float by. Lunch was at Mitchell’s Restaurant (can you tell with the bikes parked out front). This place is noted for its fish and coffees & lattes. The portions are generous so we had to remember the bike ride back. The fish cakes were outstanding.

In 2003, my son bicycled across the USA and then discovered weeks later that he had cancer. (He emerged from treatments healthy in 2004.) He inspired me to start biking, and in 2005 I raised over $15,000 for cancer research by making my own trans-America bike trip (achives under March and April 2005). I now work at a bike store but continue to go on long-distance bike trips, both in the US and internationally.
