Texas Here We Come
Heading to El Paso

We left the Best Western Valley Inn in Mesilla early as it was predicted to be very windy with 20-30mph winds and gusts up to 35.
Our route along hwy 28 was easy riding with only a slight incline. We passed sleepy little towns of colorful adobe houses. Miles and miles of pecan trees lined our route. Search as we could from our bikes for stray pecans, we noted that the trees and fields were picked clean.
As we apporached El Paso the traffic picked up and our biking skills went into full gear. Lynda often refers us as wannbe bikers but Pam feels we are true bikers now. When given the option to ride the sidewalk or road on a busy no bike lane street, we feel more comfortable on the road.
In El Paso, our route took us along the Mexican border. We saw the biggest ever Mexican flag flying by the edge of the road. Also along the edge of the road was the double fenced area monitored by the border patrol as our international border.
The predicted winds were not as bad as we thought but only blew behind us as we approached our resting spot for the night.
