Battleship Memorial Park

The Battleship Memorial Park

This park greeted us as we descended from the bridge. Of course we couldn't miss this great photo opportunity.

The park is home to the USS Alabama Battleship plus numerous aircrafts and anti aircraft guns.

In 2003, my son bicycled across the USA and then discovered weeks later that he had cancer. (He emerged from treatments healthy in 2004.) He inspired me to start biking, and in 2005 I raised over $15,000 for cancer research by making my own trans-America bike trip (achives under March and April 2005). I now work at a bike store but continue to go on long-distance bike trips, both in the US and internationally.
