the Cliffs of Moher
We started the morning with a hearty Irish breakfast including Blood Pudding. It is a good thing that I tried it before I knew what it was.
We again wandered the town, to stretch our legs and work off our breakfast. We met a young couple from Switzerland who were spending 2 weeks biking around Ireland on a tandem. We are so ready to start our adventure.
At noon we met up with our tour leaders and our fellow cyclists. There are 20 people in the group to start and barring accidents there will be 20 when we finish. Arizona, Colorado, New York, Masseuchettes, Oregon, Texas, Michigan and of course Florida were all represented. Most of the group is middle aged but one mother is accompanied by her 16 year old son and one father is joined by his 18 year old son. I think we are the only retired ones.
Leaving Ennis, we had a wild van ride to the Cliffs of Moher. We could see why it is a draw for the tourist as the views were spectacular. This area has become very popular for surfing since Ireland had the World Surfing Championships nearby in 2005.
