Dún Aengus, one of the finest prehistoric monuments in Europe, dating from about 2000 BC. It sits on the edge of a 300-foot-tall cliff overlooking a sheer drop. From the innermost rampart there's a great view of the island and the Connemara coast.
In 2003, my son bicycled across the USA and then discovered weeks later that he had
cancer. (He emerged from treatments healthy in 2004.) He inspired me to start biking, and in 2005 I raised over $15,000 for cancer research by making my own trans-America bike trip (achives under March and April 2005). I now work at a bike store but continue to go on long-distance bike trips, both in the US and internationally.
