Louisiana and Cajun Food

Cajun Food Here We Come Posted by Hello

Monday, April 4 Day 35
Miles 87.9 Total Miles 2055

Because of upcoming weather conditions, we decided to bike to DeRidder and take a rest day there. This was a good decision as our ride today was 78 degrees with light cloud cover and light winds.

We had a few hills outside Silsbee but the more eastward we rode the flatter the terrain became. It was a pleasant ride through pine country and we shared the roads with the big logging trucks all day. They always gave us lots of room as they passed. A few times we noted that they forced oncoming traffic to the side. Great for us but I sure it caused a few angry drivers.

It is always rewarding to arrive in another state - so we were very happy to see the welcome to Louisiana sign.

Our nights lodging will be in DeRidder as will our rest day. There is lots to see and eat here as it is still crawfish season. DeRidder is noted for the parish with the most churches in the world (as recorded in the Guinness Book of Records).
