A few miles down the road in Ballyvaughan was our lunch stop.
The Pass Monks Pub and Restaurant was a welcoming site. We warmed up to hot soup and sandwiches in the cosy atmosphere. And tried to dry ourselves off under the hand warmers in the "loo".
In 2003, my son bicycled across the USA and then discovered weeks later that he had
cancer. (He emerged from treatments healthy in 2004.) He inspired me to start biking, and in 2005 I raised over $15,000 for cancer research by making my own trans-America bike trip (achives under March and April 2005). I now work at a bike store but continue to go on long-distance bike trips, both in the US and internationally.
