An Angel On My Shoulder

In Memory of An Avid Biker Posted by Hello

Elizabeth is a wonderful new friend and I am so happy to have met her. Her strength to carry on is going to give me so much energy as I pedal eastward.

While visiting with her, she shared so many stories about her husband, David, that I decided to share another one with you.

This is a photo of David's favorite bike. All of his bikes were handcrafted and painted especially for him. Each bore his name gracefully written on the crossbar.

When David and Elizabeth lived in England, David owned a company that installed the barriers for professional road races in Europe. In doing this, he was able to experience the Tour de France many, many times. While at the Tour De France, he met with and became an acquaintance of Lance Armstrong (another coincidence). Behind the bike (in the photo) is an autographed US Postal Team biking shirt that Lance Armstrong gave to David.

In the foreground is a photo of David partaking of another pasttime - enjoying a cool beer. I have since learned that most bicyclists like to enjoy beer. Does that mean Lynda and I will have to acquire a taste for it?
