On the Trails Again
Riding again
John enjoyed biking with me so much on Sunday that he suggested we investigate the General James A Van Fleet State Trail. Maybe he is getting addicted to biking and will give up walking every morning.
The trail is 29 mile long and as straight and flat as can be. It goes through the green swamp area of Central Florida off Hwy 50 near Mabel. It was enjoyable riding the trail and a great place to do sprints. Along the way, you can get an occasional view of orange groves or cattle lazing in the fields, as you peek through the cypress and pines that edge the trail. The trail is also abundant with wildlife. You can easily see huron, egrets and even gopher tortoises. All in all a very enjoy ride where you can truly commune with nature.
But alas, the 14 mile ride had taken its toll on John and he needed to stop after 4 miles on this trail, content to wait for me as I added more miles to my training.
